Farmer, chef, and founder of City Girl Farming, Justyna is on a mission to reconnect people and food through local sourcing, education, and advocacy. While undergoing treatment for Stage IV Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, Justyna continues to lead with resilience, purpose, and heart. Your support helps lift up a fierce and passionate changemaker in our food community.

Project Rooted’s Local Lunch Club

When Iowa schools lost state funding to buy local food, Project Rooted stepped up. The Local Lunch Club is a grassroots effort to bring real, fresh, and nutrient-rich food back to school lunch trays, starting with a staple: lettuce.

Instead of processed, shipped-in greens, schools will serve crisp, local produce from Hilltop Greens, grown and harvested right here in our community. In just one year, this switch will replace over 17,000 pounds of lettuce and direct $34,000+ into the local food system.

This is more than better salads, it’s about dignity, health, and building a food system that feeds our kids and supports our farmers. And it’s just the beginning.
